Starter Pilates for Active Adults

Five weeks to build a real Pilates foundation — and bring it to everything else you do. Taught by Elaine Entenza.

Who this is for?

This course is for active adults — walkers, hikers, golfers, gardeners, anyone who stays moving — who want to build genuine core strength and a Pilates foundation. No prior Pilates experience needed, just a willingness to learn a new way of moving.

It's not a rehab program. If you have an acute injury or are in pain, see a doctor first and heal before you start.

What to Expect Starting Out

Pilates works differently from most exercise, and the first weeks can feel strange in specific ways:

  • It might feel too easy. We're teaching your body to bypass its big mover muscles and reach the deeper stabilizers. At first the big movers keep trying to take over — so a movement can feel light while it's actually retraining something underneath.

  • You might feel it in the "wrong" places — your neck, your hip flexors — as your body figures out where the work is supposed to happen.

  • Your brain might work harder than your body. You're learning a new movement language, and that's mental before it's physical.

All of this is normal. As long as you're not in pain, keep going. The changes come from the inside out, and they're waiting on the other side of these first few weeks.

Five Weeks, Building One on the Next

Week 1 — The Classical Exercises
An introduction to the Pilates Method and its foundational movements.

Week 2 — The Breakdown
Slowing down to take the exercises apart and refine the details. (Belt or strap)

Week 3 — The Classical Exercises #2
More of the classical repertoire, building on Week 1.

Week 4 — Chair Time
Using a chair to support the spine and find deeper core connections. (Firm chair)

Week 5 — Flow
Everything you've learned, moving as one continuous sequence.

A new class unlocks each week. Do each workout two to three times before the next one drops.

What You'll Need

A mat and a bit of open floor. Two weeks call for a simple prop you likely already have:

  • A long strap or belt — Week 2

  • A firm chair — Week 4

Nothing to buy.

How the Course Works

Five progressive workouts, one released each week. Everything is mat-based with minimal props, and you keep lifetime access. Use the workouts on their own, or use Week 5 as an alignment warm-up before your other activities. Once a week keeps it ticking over; two to three times a week is where the real change happens.

One safety rule throughout: watch each exercise all the way through before you do it — never twist your neck to look at the screen while your spine is loaded.
